Michael Conaway, 62, of Lone Tree died Saturday, Nov. 14, 2015, at his father’s home in Perry.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, Nov. 17 at 10:30 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Perry. Visitation will be Monday, Nov. 16 from 2-7 p.m., with family present from 4-7 p.m. at the Carris Family Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Violet Hill Cemetery at Perry.

Michael Robert Conaway was born May 21, 1953, at Perry, Iowa, to Mahlon LaVerne and Donna Eileen (Skinner) Conaway.

He graduated from Perry High School with the class of 1971. He later attended DMACC in Ankeny and Thermo King School in Minneapolis.

Michael drove truck for Hummer Trucking.

Michael was a very detailed-oriented person and took very good care of his equipment and vehicles. He especially loved working on cars with his son and getting them prepped for car shows.

He loved his family and enjoyed cooking for them. He would make large pans of chili and invite his family and friends over to eat.

Michael enjoyed sports and would play golf and cheer for the University of Iowa football and basketball teams.

He was very comfortable being himself and didn’t mind if he was different from the crowd.

Michael is preceded in death by mother, Donna Conaway.

Survivors include his daughter, Courtney (Ray) Forman of Tiffin; son, Tyler Conaway of Iowa City; granddaughter, Taryn Molle; father, Mahlon Conaway of Perry; and sister, Julie (Chris) Boyles of Johnston.

    Words cannot express the sorrow we at the American Legion feel at the loss of your son, Michael. Be assured, your “Band of Brothers ” here at Post 85 share in your grief. May God look over you and your family.
