Perry City Administrator Sven Peterson recently completed the coursework needed for a master’s degree in public administration from Drake University. The degree was awarded in a ceremony Sunday at the university.
The group produced a 62-page report, “Drone Usage: Managing this Technology Awakening,” that explores the public-policy implications of the new technology. An executive summary of the report will soon be available, according to Peterson.
“It has been an absolute joy spending the last two years learning and growing with this group of people,” Peterson said. “Each one of these folks brought something unique and special to the table that shaped our experience for the better. I couldn’t have gotten through it without everyone.”
Peterson had a second reason to celebrate Sunday: the 85th birthday of his grandfather, Fred Peterson of Perry. The elder Peterson served in the U.S. Army in Korea in the early 1950s and later returned to Perry to work for the local telephone company for 33 years.
Betsy Peterson, Sven’s mother, said she and her husband, Eric Peterson, “are very proud of Sven’s hard work and character.”
