ALLEMAN — The Perry girls track team competed Thursday at the Comet Relays, and while points were hard to come by, the squad managed to post six season-best times.
Host North Polk slipped past Gilbert, 170-166, for the team title. South Hamilton (78) was a distant third, with Greene County (76), ADM (49) and Perry (37) completing the list of teams in action.
Season-low times were recorded for both Mariah Duffy and Grace Stewart in the 1500, with the former fifth in 5 minutes, 29.17 seconds and the latter sixth in 5:31.6. Stewart had earlier run to second place in the 3000 in 12:12.96.
Breanna Penenger’s fourth-place time of 1:16.52 in the 400 low hurdles was a season-best, with Alejandra Rivera scoring fifth-place points in the 400 after crossing in 1:13.24.
A season-low 10:29.05 was posted by the third-place 4×800 team of Sid Vancil, Emma Olejniczak, Duffy and Penenger, with season-best times recorded by both the 4×200 (2:01.2) and sprint medley (2:08.25) teams, both of which placed fifth. The 4×800 quartet also ran the 4×200, with Olejniczak and Vancil joined by Haileigh Kenyon and Isabel Saemisch in the sprint medley.
Emma Humpal, Mariah McNamara, Chelsea Krueger and Gaby Chavez were fifth in the 4×100 (1:01.22) with Kenyon, Saemisch, Rivera and Damaris Robles fifth in the 4×400 (5:03.7) while Humpal, Robles, Saemisch and Kenyon placed fifth in the distance medley (5:24.9).
Perry will return to action Saturday at 10 a.m. when they participate in the Raccoon River Conference meet in Bondurant.
