Longtime Progressive Foundry Inc. worker Merle Jackson of Rippey retired Thursday after more than 40 years on the job.
Jackson began his career at the noted Perry manufacturing plant Jan. 13, 1976. Jackson’s two brothers, John Jackson and Louis Jackson, are also former foundry employees, and the Jackson brothers’ father, Harold Jackson, started the tradition by working at the Progressive Foundry in earlier years.
A retirement party was held Thursday, June 30 on Jackson’s last day with the company.
Longtime Progressive Foundry Inc. owner Dallas “Pete” VanKirk of Perry thanked Jackson for his years of service as he presented him with a gift in gratitude. He was joined by all the foundry employees in wishing Jackson well in his years of retirement.
Joining Jackson at the retirement luncheon were his wife, Kathy Jackson, and his granddaughter, Melissa.
