A caller from a local bank said a customer “had approximately $1,300 worth of checks deposited into her account,” and “the checks were later found to be fraudulent.” An officer responded and started an investigation.

A citizen entered the offices of the Perry Police Department at 908 Willis Ave. and reported “a semi loaded with pigs parked in the old Hy-Vee parking lot.” The citizen was “concerned for the pigs’ safety” because “it is hot, and the pigs are squealing,” and the “truck has been parked there for over an hour.” Officers responded.

A caller said a dog was running at large. Officers responded.

A caller said “she believes her landlord has illegally changed” her lease and “has no right to be asking her to get out of her current address.” Officers responded.

A caller from the Dallas County Sheriff’s office reported “a semi driver that turned south on I Court that was headed to Tyson and now needs assistance in backing up and getting turned around.” The caller said the “deputy is in the Redfield area” and asked whether an officer of the Perry Police Department could respond and assist the driver of the semi-tractor trailer. An officer responded and found “Cromwell Towing already assisting the semi driver.”

A caller from the Dallas County Hospital requested Perry Police Department “assistance in the ER for a patient being unruly.” Officers responded.

Perry Merical, 55, of Jamaica was arrested on a Perry warrant on a charge of fifth-degree theft.

*A criminal charge is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
