HUXLEY — A great defensive effort was blunted Friday when the Perry freshmen were unable to find the end zone and suffered an 8-0 loss to Ballard. The Bluejays fell to 1-2 overall with the setback.
“Our defense plays really well, but the offensive line struggles to maintain blocks,” Perry coach Shannon Cline said.
Dakota Oetker and Kolby Wolfe each had strips of the football for the Bluejay defense, with Tyler Fessler recovering a fumble.
Quarterback Keghan West was 2-of-6 but for only one yard, with Wolfe having both receptions.
The Jays were able to produce 112 rushing yards on 21 carries, with Erick Funez rushing 14 times for 104 yards. Jacob Nelson ran five times for four yards, with West gaining four yards on two carries.
