LAST MEETING — The teams have not met since at least the 2005 season.

ABOUT THE PANTHERS — Panorama opened their season with a pair of victories. The Panthers topped host Des Moines Christian, 31-14, in Week One, then demolished visiting Woodward Academy, 48-6, in their second game. Fifth-ranked Madrid was a rude host Sept. 9, posting a 35-6 win, but Panorama bounced back to dominate Ogden, 49-14, on the road last Friday.

Freshman quarterback Luke South has completed 18-of-44 passes for 349 yards and five touchdowns while tossing three interceptions. Levi Leiferman has six grabs for 115 yards and a score, with Blaine Barber snatching four aerials for 98 yards and a score. Gunnar Grunsted, Garrett Simmons and Tanner Godfrey also have TD receptions.

Brody Rickheim’s 309 yards and five scores on 48 carries leads a ground game that has found the end zone 11 times while amassing 796 yards on 142 carries, divided among a large number of players. South’s 36 rushes (for 66 yards) is second on the team in attempts, with Barber (13-80) and Grunsted (10-90) the only others while double-digit rushes.

Grunsted and Trey Cobb lead the team with 22.5 and 20.5 tackles, respectively. The defense has recovered just one fumble but leads Class 1A with 10 interceptions.

ABOUT THE HAWKS — A 7-0 loss at rival South Hardin and a 37-7 setback to Roland-Story had South Hamilton off to a rough start, but a 23-16 district win at NW Webster followed. Seventh-ranked Van Meter’s 42-0 win last week dropped the Hawks to 1-3 overall.

Blake Barquist is 17-43-4 for 225 yards and one TD passing, with Tanner Volkmann (4-88) and Logan Klemp (5-59) the main targets.

Klemp is a do-everything for the Hawks, as he leads the rushers with 264 yards and two scores on 53 carries and has 30.5 tackles — nearly double the next player on the unit — to pace the defense. Colton Coy is second on the team in rushing with 185 yards and one TD on 51 hauls.

South Hamilton has intercepted five passes and recovered three fumbles.
