
PANORA — The Panorama netters won only two of their first 17 matches this season. A 3-1 win over visiting Earlham Tuesday, combined with a 2-2 effort at Saturday’s CAM Tournament has lifted the team record to 5-18.
Earlham (10-15, excluding Saturday games) fell to 1-6 in West Central Conference play after Panorama (5-18, 1-6) posted the win on scores of 25-15, 18-25, 25-14 and 25-21. The Panthers had fallen to the Cardinals, 23-21 and 21-8 at the Perry Invitational Sept. 8. The WCC win comes after wins over Orient-Macksburg (21-14, 21-11) and CAM (21-15, 20-13, 15-9) and losses to Riverside (21-19, 21-8) and AC/GC (25-16, 25-21) at the Cougar Tournament in Anita Saturday.
Faith Powell had nine kills, an assist, 15 digs and served 19-of-20 with an ace against Earlham, with Adrienne Powell having 13 assists and a dig while serving 5-6-1. Nicole Rolfes had seven kills, 15 digs and served 15-18-3, Morgan Johnk had seven kills and five digs while Christin Koch tallied four kills.
Hannah Woodworth was 10-10-1, with Hope Wilderman adding a kill and two assists and Kennedy Kuta 14 assists, nine digs and a 16-18-3 serving effort. Brooke Halterman had two kills, seven digs and was 4-of-5, with Olivia Richey recording 11 digs while serving 6-7-2.
Johnk and Wilderman each had four blocks, with Faith Powell making two blocks, with Halterman and Koch having one block apiece.
Saturday’s combined statistics reveal a solid effort throughout the tourney by the Panthers, especially Halterman, who had 13 kills, four digs and served 16-20-2, and Rolfes, who served 32-39-8 with eight digs and four kills.
Koch had 11 kills, two assists, a dig and was 17-18-3, with Adrienne Powell providing 18 assists, two digs and 16-18-3 serving while Faith Powell was 15-19-4 with 19 digs and four kills. Richey was 19-20-5 with five digs, with Johnk 3-of-3 with seven kills, an assist and two digs while Kuta had nine assists and two digs.
Carson Fisher had three kills and an assist, Mathison Twigg one kill, Wilderman two kills, two assists and two digs while Woodworth had one dig and served 13-of-14.
Koch finished with eight blocks at the tourney, with Halterman and Johnk having five apiece while Fisher and Wilderman each had one block.
The Panthers return to the court Thursday with a visit to WCC foe Des Moines Christian.
