A Gofundme page has been established to help raise funds to cover funeral expenses for Lourdes Flor de Leake and Melany Barraza of Perry. The mother and daughter were brutally killed Saturday in Perry.
A suspect in the crime is in custody, charged with two counts of first-degree murder and one count of attempted murder for his attack on a 78-year-old Perry man, Juan Jimenez. The Perry community was shocked and outraged by the heinous nature of the murders.
According to the Gofundme page, Leake is survived by two sons, Eric, 10, and Matthew, 4.
“This unfortunate tragedy has created a large unexpected financial burden on the mother of Lourdes Leake and the rest of the Ordonez family,” the Gofundme page reads. “We are hoping to accumulate funding to help cover funeral expenses of both Lourdes and her daughter, Melany. On behalf of the Ordonez family, we thank you for your time, prayers and any contributions.”
The Gofundme effort seeks to raise $10,000 for the family’s expenses.
Unfortunately, I do not have any money to donate, though I would like to. However, I am a pastor and am willing to do the funerals for free if the family is not associated with any church. I am Joan White, the mother of one of Melany’s favorite teachers, at least that it what she told her mother during a parent/teacher conference last Thursday. Krista Fischer is the teacher. One problem could be that I do not speak any Spanish, if that would be needed. If the family is interested in this offer, please let me know.
