Services are pending for Darin Steva of Perry, who died Sunday in Rochester, Minn., after a lengthy struggle with heart trouble.
The PHS industrial technology instructor was a popular favorite with students, and his death has shocked and saddened the community, as seen in the numerous tributes posted to his Facebook page.
“He was an incredible man and teacher,” said one Facebook mourner. “He had a huge impact on my life and the lives of so many students. My prayers are with his family.”
Steva began teaching at PHS in 1998 and built the industrial technology and SkillsUSA programs into local powerhouses.
He was honored at a fundraising event in April at PHS. He leaves behind a wife and two young children.
ThePerryNews.com extends its condolence to the Steva family in their loss.
Between the recent triple murder and this much beloved teacher’s demise, it’s been a rough year for PHS students.
