Santa Claus made two guest appearances Saturday morning — one in Bouton and one in Perry — at the start of what promises to be a busy holiday season for the jolly fat man.

Santa’s bearded ampleness greeted friends at the Bouton Betterment Committee’s last breakfast fundraiser of the year, where pancakes, eggs and several varieties of pork were served in the customary proportions from 7-10 a.m.

The bringer of gifts chatted with old friends a while and posed for a few pictures before moving on to his next engagement, and his reindeer must have worked up quite a sweat on liftoff, given the fullness of Santa’s plateful of Bouton breakfast food.

The McCreary Community Building in Perry was the North Pole native’s next stop, and a big crowd was on hand to meet him because it was a free-admission day at the recreation center.

The father of free stuff had competent handlers in Perry Finance Officer Susie Stoner Moorhead and Parks and Recreation Director John Anderson, who controlled the joyous MCB crowd and kept Santa from being overwhelmed by bluejays and jaguars.

Among Santa Claus’ many other guest appearances this year, he will greet youngsters at the Carnegie Library Museum Sunday, Dec. 11 from 1-2:30 p.m.
