
URBANDALE — Des Moines Christian used a 24-10 scoring edge in the second half to record a 50-35 West Central Conference win over the Woodward-Granger girls Friday.
DMC held a 21-13 lead after one quarter of play, but W-G used a 12-5 spurt to close to within 26-25 at the intermission. The Lions used an 11-4 run of their own in the third period to stake a 37-29 lead and never looked back in collecting the victory.
Mia Rosener had 16 points while blocking six shots and grabbing five rebounds to lead the hosts, with Beth Zimmer adding 15 points. DMC finished with 51 shots from the floor while W-G was able to hoist only 31.
Mary Hansen’s 17 points paced the Hawks. Riley Jamison and Kayley Dresback have five points apiece and Kendra Husmann and Maggi Mallon three points each, with Kaitlyn Peters adding two points.
Hansen and Mallon finished with five rebounds apiece, with both Jamison and Riley Kirton clearing three boards. Mallon had four steals, Jamison three and Alyssa Bice two, with Jamison, Hansen and Dresback each distributing a pair of assists.
W-G will visit Saydel for a girl/boy set tonight. The Hawk boys will play Woodward Academy in the W-G middle school gym Tuesday, with both squads hosting Van Meter Friday.
