CARLISLE — For two quarters the Perry girls cagers have seventh-ranked Carlisle all the host Wildcats could handle. Then came the second half.
Perry (4-2, 1-1) had overcome a 15-7 deficit after one quarter to close to within 22-20 at the break, but a 14-9 edge over the next eight minutes allowed Carlisle (5-0, 2-0) to open a 36-29 edge. The Jayettes were still within range, but only briefly, as a 20-9 spurt from the hosts put the game away.
Carlisle went early and often to their bench, with Perry forced to use their starting five the entire first half and finding only brief relief in the final two frames as the hosts wore down and pulled away from the visitors.
Meredith Hoffman was all but unstoppable for the Wildcats, finishing with a game-high 29 points, including eight field goals and three free throws as part of a 19-point second half.
Freshman Molly Lutmer drained three 3-pointers en route to a team-best 13 points for Perry. Jo Diw added 11 points and Grace Stewart six, with Grace Marburger scoring five points and Emma Olejniczak three.
Only seven foul shots were attempted during the game, with Carlisle shooting 6-of-6 at the line while Perry missed their lone try.
Perry visits Norwalk Tuesday before hosting ADM Friday.
