
PANORA — Senior Bryce Halterman erupted for 39 points — 28 of them in the second half — to lead Panorama to a 70-65 win over visiting Ogden in West Central Conference boys cage action Tuesday.
Halterman drained five 3-pointers in the game, four of which singed the nets after the intermission. He finished 6-of-6 at the foul line as well, part of a 13-of-16 shooting night at the line by the Panthers, who broke open a 60-60 contest with two minutes to play to secure the victory.
Panorama (3-5, 3-4) held a 13-8 lead after one period, but Ogden (2-7, 2-5) rallied to grab a 31-29 halftime lead. The Panthers moved back in front, 48-45, entering the fourth frame, which produced a strong runs from each team.
The hosts were off first, racing at a 58-49 advantage with five minutes to play, only to see the Bulldogs muster a 12-2 spurt to knot the score with two minutes remaining. Panorama had a 62-60 lead with 60 seconds to play, then held off Ogden’s final charge with sharp shooting at the line, where the team was 7-of-9 in the second half.
Noah Snedden did his part for Ogden with 24 points. He was joined in double figures by Nathan Kennedy and Ben Heeren, who had 14 and 13 points, respectively, but those efforts were countered by Halterman’s 39-point outburst and, in part, by 13 points from Jeramy Randol.
Trey Cobb and Luke South had six points apiece for the hosts, with Gracen Welberg adding four points and Will Babcock two.
Halterman’s stat line included eight rebounds, five assists and three steal, with Welberg pulling down nine boards and making three assists. South had six rebounds and four assists, with Randol clearing six caroms and Cobb handing out four assists. Welberg, South and Randol each finished with a blocked shot for the Panthers.
Panorama visits Woodward for a boys-only contest against Woodward Academy Friday. The Knights play in the W-G Middle School (east) gym.
