Panorama wrestlers win two of three at Thursday quadrangular

TRURO — A loss to ninth-ranked Southeast Warren was surrounded by wins over Van Meter and host Interstate-35 as the Panorama wrestlers claimed two of three duals in quadrangular action Thursday.

The Panthers opened with a 47-27 against Van Meter before dropping a 48-23 decision to SE Warren, with a 38-28 win over I-35 capping their action. SE Warren posted wins of 37-33 over I-35 and of 38-32 against Van Meter to finish the meet 3-0 while I-35 avoided being blanked by topping Van Meter 46-30.

Gunnar Grunsted was 3-0 for Panorama with a 10-5 win at 170 pounds against Van Meter’s Colton Golwitzer before returning to his usual 160 weight class to pin SEW’s Josh Sundberg in 3 minutes, 2 seconds, with a 10-9 decision against I-35’s Mason Woosley capping his action.

Also 3-0 was 152-pounder Tyler Van Houten, who claimed a 4-3 win over SEW’s Alex Henderson and a Sudden Victory I 6-4 win over I-35’s Jacob Steinlage while also receiving a forfeit.

Seventh ranked 126-pounder George Appleseth wrestled his three matches up a class, at 132. He pinned Quinn Corcoran (VM) in 2:58 and tallied an 11-1 major decision over Zac Willey (I-35) but dropped a thrilling 3-1 decision on the first tiebreaker to SEW’s Blake Bauer, who is ranked seventh at 132.

Danny Nordquist notched an 18-3 technical fall against Zane Dodson (VM) and an 11-3 major decision over Brody Nelson (I-35) but lost by fall to top-ranked Brady Kyner (SEW) in two minutes.

Trevor Carey was 2-1 at 182 with a 15-second pin of Noah Hale (VM) and a 9-5 decision over Bryce Vandelunen (SEW), with Brady Howard 2-1 at 220 on a 3-1 decision over Tyler Erdman (VM) and a 39-second pin of Cole Stewart (I-35).

Dalton Holmes pinned Brock Thompson (I-35) in 3:09 and received a forfeit to finish 2-1 at 195 pounds, with Dan Jensen 2-1 at heavyweight with a pin of Conner Bregger (SEW) in 36 seconds and a forfeit.

Ondrej Komora received a forfeit at 152 against Van Meter when Van Houten stepped up to 160 to claim a forfeit. Panorama left both the 106 and 113 pound weight classes open and were unable to record victories at 138 and 145.
