Perry finished their regular season 15-6 overall and 9-5 in Raccoon River Conference play with a 48-43 win over Carroll in league play Saturday. The game was rescheduled from Jan. 24 and completed a season sweep for the hosts, who were 60-46 victors in the Dec. 2 meeting between the two old rivals.

Carroll (4-16, 2-12) played well, never trailing by double-digits and closing to within 44-40 with one minute to play. The Tigers hit six 3-pointers in the game, but the Jayettes landed 10 shots from beyond the arc.

Perry opened a 13-10 lead after eight minutes of play, but trailed briefly in the second quarter before taking a 26-21 edge into the intermission. The hosts led, 36-30, to start the fourth quarter. The gap grew to 39-30 before the Tigers scored 10 of the following 15 points to draw within four points, only to see the hosts secure the win in the final 60 seconds.

Taylor Mohr had four 3-pointers and 16 points to lead the visitors with Madison Lingle scoring six points on a pair of treys while Sydney Renning also tallied six points. Bailey Brinks had five points, Karlee Jones and Josie Pettitt four apiece and Elizabeth Promes two.

Grace Marburger’s 21 points were fueled by four 3-pointers, with Jo Diw and Molly Lutmer each making three triples while scoring 12 and 11 points, respectively. Three points from Grace Stewart and an Emma Olejniczak free throw capped Perry’s scoring.

Perry finished with a decided edge at the foul line, sinking 10-of-15 free throws while Carroll converted one of their three attempts.

Perry hosts the winner of Wednesday’s Class 4A Region 2 game between Carroll and host Denison-Schleswig Saturday at 7 p.m. That winner advances to the Region 2 Final Feb. 21, with the game to be played at 7 p.m. at the highest remaining seed.

Second-ranked Nevada awaits the winner of Wednesday’s tilt between Storm Lake and host Webster City in the top half of the bracket.
