Ogden's Kayden Kruse is too late to stop W-G's Marcus McConahay from splashing this 3-pointer Jan. 25. McConahay was one of six Hawk seniors who had their prep hardwood careers end at Truro Monday.

TRURO — Cold shooting and a lack of offensive punch in the second half doomed the Woodward-Granger boys Monday in a 58-39 loss to Interstate-35 in a Class 2A District 13 first round game.

The hosts were off to an 18-10 lead after one frame, but the guests were able to trim their deficit to 28-23 at the half. Unfortunately for the Hawks, only eight points would be put on the board in each quarter in the second half while the Roadrunners scored 14 and 16, respectively, to pull away for the win.

W-G finishes the season 9-13 overall. The win total surpassed the combined victories of the first three seasons for the senior class and is the most for the Hawks since a 13-9 mark in 2011-12. Bodie Harrison, Marcus McConahay, Spencer Hanson, Cameron Hoyt, Brady Aunspach and Seth Epley had their prep cage careers end with the loss.

The Hawks hit just 13-of-43 shots from the field, including a 5-of-20 outing behind the 3-point arc. The team connected on 8-of-13 free throws.

Reese Jamison had 11 points for W-G, with Harrison adding nine, McConahay eight, Hanson six, Cameron Hoyt three and Noah Hoyt two. McConahay had six rebounds and three steals, with Harrison and Jamison each clearing four boards while Bryce Achenbach passed out five assists.
