Nice weather, good fellowship and even better food combined to draw a large crowd to Friday’s Fish Fry, hosted by the Knights of Columbus.
Held for the first six Friday’s of Lent at St. Patrick’s Catholic School on 5th and Lucinda Streets in Perry, the dinners are served from 5:30-7 p.m.
The fare is commonly rated “excellent” and features fried Pollock, using the closely-guarded “secret recipe” of Chris Hinds. Baked Pollock is also available, with baked potato, french fries, garlic bread, grilled cheese sandwiches and coleslaw rounding out the choices. Drinks and coffee are provided, as are desserts, courtesy of St. Patrick’s parishioners and contributing friends.
Adults are $8 and children 5-10 only $4.50, with a set family fee of $25. Dinners are all-you-can-eat, with few — if any — ever leaving the venue with room to spare on their appetite.
New this year will be the addition of shrimp, which will join the menu for an additional fee March 17 and 24. While all other menu items are eat-until-full, shrimp will be limited.
The St. Jude Council 1243 of the Knights of Columbus was chartered in 1907 and is open to all practicing Catholic men who desire to put their faith into action.
Thanks to everyone who came Friday night and hope to see many more next Friday.
