  • While conducting business door checks, an officer located an open door at 509 E. Gallop Road.
  • An officer located an open door at 600 E. Lincoln Way.
  • An anonymous caller said he tied a stray dog to a tree at 502 N. Oak St. that needed picked up. An officer placed the male German shepherd in the animal holding facility.
  • Scott Havens reported an attempted burglary overnight at 800 E. Lincoln Way. Someone attempted to gain entry into a door of the business. Entry was not made, but the door was damaged.
  • A caller reported a careless driver in a semi-tractor trailer on 220th Street traveling eastbound toward Jefferson. The officer did not locate the vehicle.
  • Officers investigated a backing accident in the parking lot at 300 N. Elm St. Annette Russell of Grand Junction was inside the business and witnessed a vehicle back into her 2015 Jeep Cherokee and leave the area. The Russell vehicle had minor damages, estimated at $500. Russell provided the officers with a plate number for the other vehicle. The officers made contact with Norman Wolfe of Stuart. Wolfe said he was present at the location with his 1996 Dodge Dakota. He said his vehicle received no damage, and he did not check the other vehicle due to the rain. The officers collected his information for the accident report. No citation issued as the incident occurred on private property.
  • Billie Wind reported receiving a scam phone call from a male who claimed he was with the U.S. Internal Revenue Service and was collecting a debt. Wind did not give the caller any information and did not incur a loss.
  • A caller provided an officer with information that a male from Waukee was bragging about coming to Jefferson and having sex with a 13-year-old female. The officer is working to gather more information and attempting to investigate the report.
  • Officers investigated a two-vehicle property damage accident in the 100 block of S. Vine Street. A 2014 Freightliner, owned by Aramark Services and operated by Steven Woodruff of Fort Dodge, was parked on the street. Woodruff exited the vehicle, and it rolled forward into another parked vehicle, a 2013 Kia Soul that was legally parked and owned by Mindy Ford of Jefferson. The Ford vehicle had a reported $400 in damages to the rear bumper. The Freightliner had no reported damages.
  • A traffic stop was performed in the 800 block of S. Elm Street, which resulted in Dylan Davis of Grand Junction being issued a citation for operation without registration.
  • A traffic stop was performed at Washington and Elm streets, which resulted in William Minnehan of Churdan being issued a citation for operation without registration.
  • Andrew Wader said he was staying in the Redwood Hotel at 209 E. Gallop Road, and people were arguing about money in the room beside him, and he wanted law enforcement to check on them. Officers arrived and made contact with a male in the neighboring room who was sleeping. He allowed the officers to look in his unit. He was alone and appeared to have been sleeping.

*A criminal charge is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
