- Barb Potkonak reported an abandoned bicycle in the alley of the 500 block of N. Oak Street. An officer placed the bike in impound.
- Kashia Cooklin reported receiving a phone scam message on her phone, advising she had won a large sum of money but needed to send $2,000 in order to collect her winnings. Cooklin did not incur a loss.
- An officer assisted the Greene County EMS with a medical call in the 100 block of Ram Drive.
- A traffic stop was performed in the 700 block of N. Elm Street, resulting in Alexis Schroeder of Scranton being issued a citation for excessive speed.
- An officer assisted a Greene County Deputy Sheriff by conducting an interview of a male at the Law Enforcement Center until the deputy could arrive and take over. The male was suspected of being involved in a reported incident in Grand Junction.
April 4, 2017
- An officer performed a traffic stop in the 100 block of W. Lincoln Way, resulting in Tauwana Laue of Grand Junction being issued a citation for failure to provide proof of financial liability.
- An officer performed a traffic stop at Chestnut and Park streets, resulting in Amanda Burbank of Jefferson being issued a citation for failure to obey stop/yield sign.
- An officer performed a traffic stop at Harrison and State streets, resulting in Sean Coil of Jefferson being issued a citation for improper rear lamps.
- Officers assisted the Greene County EMS with a medical call in the 600 block of S. Olive Street.
- Craig Presley turned in several live rounds of ammunition he located on the roadway at Elm and Adams streets.
- A caller requested a welfare check on her boyfriend, who had been gone since 6 p.m. April 3 and was possibly suicidal. Officers “pinged” the boyfriend’s cell phone and learned he was in the Fort Dodge area. All information was forwarded to Fort Dodge authorities to search for the boyfriend.
- A caller requested a welfare check on a female in Jefferson. Officers made contact with the female, who was fine.
- The Greene County Elementary School called and said a male student left the school and was walking north on S. Cedar Street. Upon the officer’s arrival, school staff was with the male and advised no further assistance was needed.
- Tina Neuroth reported a careless driver on 220th Street, approaching Jefferson from the west. An officer performed a traffic stop with the vehicle at 220th Street and M Avenue after locking the speed of the vehicle on radar at 68 mph. The officer issued Mary Backes of Ames a citation for excessive speed.
- Jennifer Schiltz said she caught a stray dog near South Street and Grimmell Road. The officer placed the animal in the Animal Holding Facility.
- An officer performed a traffic stop in the 300 block of E. Reed Street, resulting in Cory Schwering of Lake City being issued a citation for operation without registration.
- Lori Lawrence reported the theft of her juvenile nephew’s cell phone. The juvenile spent the night at a friend’s residence, along with other juveniles, and his phone went missing. An officer is investigating.
- Dave McQuillen reported an open door at a residence in the 1400 block of Southfield Drive. He believed the residents were gone on vacation and noticed the open door. An officer learned the residents were home and all was fine. He shared his findings with McQuillen.
- An officer started a sexual assault investigation after an incident was reported to him. A female juvenile said the assault occurred March 22 at Russell Park. The officer was provided with the name of a male juvenile suspect reported to have been involved in the assault. The investigation continues.
- An officer spoke with Derek Ott and Jake and Megan Ball at the Law Enforcement Center regarding a civil property dispute. The officer mediated between the two parties in order to help them reach an agreement and resolve the issue.
- Dottie Aldridge reported a juvenile male was present at her residence and advised her he had been kicked out of his residence at 508 N. Locust Street. The officer took the juvenile back home and spoke with his parents concerning the issue.
