April 24, 2017

  • An officer performed a vehicle unlock in the 300 block of E. 21st Street.
  • An officer returned a phone call to a Madrid resident regarding a careless driver on Iowa Highway 17.
  • An officer stopped a vehicle in the 600 block of S. Kennedy Street. The driver was warned for improper headlamps.
  • An officer spoke to someone regarding a past citation.
  • An officer took a report of a found dog at 917 S. Kennedy St. The owner arrived to pick up the dog from the neighbor prior to officer’s arrival. The owner was warned for dog at large.

April 25, 2017

  • An officer called someone regarding a civil stand-by. A Madrid resident was fired from his job, and a business wanted a civil stand-by while the former employee picked up equipment.
  • An officer assisted a resident with gaining access to her house after she locked herself out.
  • An officer stopped a vehicle in the 500 block of E. Third Street for a speeding infraction.
  • An officer was notified of a potential IRS scam phone call to a Madrid resident. While on scene, the same IRS scammer called again. The officer spoke to the person on the phone, whom claimed the local police had issued a warrant for the officer for not paying taxes. The officer advised the scammer, who hung up the phone on him.
  • An officer assisted the Des Moines Police Department Traffic Division in attempting to locate a vehicle that may have been involved in a hit and run in their city.

April 26, 2017

  • An officer spoke to a Madrid resident regarding a criminal mischief/trespassing case.
  • An officer returned a call to an attorney in Des Moines regarding an Iowa Department of Human Services case.
  • An officer did a welfare check on a Madrid High School student, at the request of Staff, after the student missed class all week. The officer found the household to have the flu.
  • An officer worked on several junk-vehicle violations.
  • An officer had a junk vehicle towed from the 100 block of W. Seventh Street.
  • An officer stopped a suspicious vehicle in the 900 block of S. Kennedy Street. Everything checked oaky.
  • An officer spoke to someone regarding a past harassment report.

April 27, 2017

  • An officer received a call about a missing cat from the 200 block of S. State Street.
  • An officer received a call about a dog running in the 400 block of S. Main Street. The officer was unable to locate the German shepherd.
  • An officer performed a home walk through in the 500 block of S. State Street after the owner found some suspicious property that lead her to believe that someone could be in her home. Everything checked out okay.
  • An officer had a junk vehicle removed from the 100 block of E. Eighth Street.
  • An officer had a junk vehicle towed from the 400 block of S. State Street.
  • An officer followed up with juvenile court staff regarding an ongoing case.

April 28, 2017

  • An officer spoke to a Madrid resident regarding a trespassing issue in which someone left a note on the resident’s car sometime overnight.
  • An officer had a junk car towed from the 100 block of E. Ninth Street.
  • An officer had a junk vehicle towed from the 800 block of S. Union Street.

April 29, 2017

  • An officer assisted the Boone County Sheriff’s office, Story County Sheriff’s office and Huxley Police Department with a domestic incident in Sheldahl. The male was subsequently arrested for domestic assault and transported to the Boone County Jail.
  • An officer spoke to someone regarding harassing messages posted through Facebook. The officer advised both parties, and the offender removed the posts.
  • An officer responded to E. North Street regarding suspicious activity at a residence.

April 30, 2017

  • An officer attempted to locate a road-rage driver. The suspect vehicle was reportedly headed north past the Madrid High School, and the officer determined that attempting to catch up to it would be impractical and unsafe.
  • An officer responded to an alarm at Dollar General and determined it was a false alarm.

*A criminal charge is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
