WINTERSET — Ogden golfers had the second, third and fourth-lowest individual rounds Tuesday to help the Bulldogs easily win the girls West Central Conference golf championship.
Ogden finished with a 415, and so dominant were the Bulldogs and even a disqualification — which forced the team to drop a fourth score of 108 in exchange for a 122 — that the 14-point raise in team total still left the squad 40 strokes clear of runner-up Des Moines Christian’s 455.
Van Meter, led by WCC titleist Molly Carey’s 50-43–93, was third with a 469. Panorama (478) was fourth, Earlham (493) fifth, Woodward-Granger (494) sixth and West Central Valley (524) seventh. Neither AC/GC nor Madrid had four players, and thus could not generate an official team score.
Kylie Nichols (50-47–97) and Hannah Carter and Maranda Wheelock (both shooting 54-44–98) and Faith Mohr (65-57–122) scored for Ogden.
Madi Fear’s 57-55–112 paced Panorama, with Anna Duis (62-54–116), Cassie Labath (61-63–124) and Lauren McClatchey (64-62–126) also scoring for the Panthers. Maggie Smith (71-56–127) and Taylor Raibikis (66-70–136) were in action as well, but did not have their cards used for the team total.
Cierra DeHoet had a 57-53–110 to place seventh overall and lead W-G. Ashland James (66-59–125), Aubrey Mescher (65-61–126) and Paige Mescher (67-77–133) also made the circuit for the Hawks girls.
Cece Sturdivant (48-59–107) led DMC, Kari Coulter (52-53–105) paced Earlham and Darby Davis (66-61–127) WCV, with Haley Sheeder (67-59–126) the low round for AC/GC and Sydney Weise (67-60–127) the low card for Madrid.
