W-G skipper Eric Evans waves Brady Aunspach home to score on a base hit against CMB last season.

GRANGER — Senior Spencer Hanson limited visiting Madrid to a single run on two seventh-inning hits to guide Woodward-Granger to an 8-1 WCAC win Tuesday. Hanson struck out eight while not issuing a walk and aided his own cause with a pair of doubles at the plate.

W-G scored six times in the third and twice more in the fourth, more than enough of a cushion for Hanson, who had little difficulty filing through the Madrid lineup card.

Reese Jamison was a single, a triple and three RBIs for the hosts while stealing two bases and scoring twice along the way. Matt Rhoses was 2-for-3 with a run scored, Brady Aunspach scored twice, drove in a run and doubled while Matt Buch added a pair of base hits.

Cole Theisen also had a hit for the hosts, with courtesy runner Ryan Munoz scoring twice while Bryce Achenbach and Nick Brummond each touched the plate once.

Wyatt Smith tossed four innings for the guests in taking the loss. He yielded eight runs (six earned) on eight hits and two walks while striking out two. Nolan Owensby pitched two frames of relief, allowing two hits and a walk while fanning one.

Bryce Dean singled in the seventh, eventually scoring on a Colton Lowe base hit to account for the Madrid offense.

W-G hosts Iowa Christian Academy tonight before playing at Clarke Thursday. The game with ICA is slated for a 7 p.m. start.
