June 2, 2017

  • An officer assisted the Greene County EMS with a medical call in the 500 block of S. Maple Street.
  • Nellie Petterson requested an officer at 107 N. Olive St. because she felt her daughter was a danger to herself. The officer was able to calm the issue for the evening.
  • A traffic stop was performed at Lincoln Way and Grimmell Road, resulting in Christopher Laurent of Jefferson being issued a citation for failure to obey stop sign.
  • Dave Sayre reported a careless driver near Elm and Russell streets. The plate provided to the officer did not match the described vehicle, and the officer did not locate the vehicle.
  • A traffic stop was performed at Vine and Harrison streets, resulting in Chance Peterson of Jefferson being issued a citation for careless driving.
  • An officer issued a parking violation notice in the 300 block of N. Cedar Street for vehicle parked facing wrong direction.
  • Steve Murphy reported a motor vehicle accident in the 600 block of N. Chestnut Street. An officer could not locate any issues in the area. He spoke to Murphy and learned someone was working on a vehicle and not actually involved in an accident.

June 3, 2017

  • An officer removed a bat from the residence at 614 S. Olive St.
  • Fareway reported an abandoned bicycle at 1207 N. Elm St. An officer placed the bike in the impound lot.
  • An officer performed a funeral escort.
  • During a traffic stop in the 700 block of W. Russell Street, an officer determined a female passenger in the vehicle had an outstanding arrest warrant out of Carroll County. The officer arrested Kristina Marie Greene, 42, of Jefferson on the Carroll County warrant for failure to appear. Greene had not appeared in court on a charge of possession of a controlled substance.
  • A Hy-Vee employee captured a stray dog at 106 W. Washington St. An officer placed the animal in the Jefferson Animal Holding Facility.
  • An officer investigated a backing accident at Hy-Vee, 106 W. Washington St. Two vehicles began to back up from parking spots at the same time and collided, a 2008 Chevy Impala, owned and operated by Chandra Butler of Yale, and a 2011 Chevy Impala, owned and operated by Michael Caraher of Jefferson. Each vehicle sustained an estimated $600 in damages to its rear. No citation was issued as the incident occurred on private property.
  • A traffic stop was performed in the 100 block of W. Lincoln Way, resulting in Jose Alvarez of Jefferson being issued a citation for failure to have a valid license.
  • David Ohrt reported discovering a deceased dog in his yard at 1217 W. Lincoln Way. An officer was able to return the animal to its owner for burial.
  • Marty Wiedman reported a dog without access to fresh water in the 200 block of N. Oak Street. An officer made contact with the animal and its owner. The owner was advised to keep fresh water available at all times or bring the animal inside.
  • An officer checked on a business alarm activation at 106 W. Washington St. The officer found the business to be secure.
  • A caller reported an erratic driver on 220th Street near the casino. An officer did not locate the vehicle.
  • Crawford Petterson reported his mother and brothers had not returned home from a bike ride. An officer went to 107 N. Olive St. and learned they were home and inside the residence. He did check inside when he did not find their bikes outside.
  • Tamera Littlefield reported being harassed by cell phone by someone in Gowrie. An officer spoke to all parties involved and advised them to end the unwanted contact.

June 4, 2017

  • Dalton Exline spoke to an officer about concerns of vehicles driving past his residence continually at 500 N. Cedar St. He said it was the same vehicle over and over. An officer provided extra patrol in the area and did not locate the vehicle.
  • Melinda Gallagher said her juvenile son was missing. She said he was home earlier in the evening but was now missing. An officer located the juvenile driving around Jefferson with a friend. Both juveniles were advised by the officer of the risks involved in sneaking out and warned on the curfew violation before being returned home to parents.
  • A traffic stop was performed in the 1600 block of N. Elm Street, resulting in Craig Freeman of Jefferson being issued a citation for excessive speed.
  • Marilyn Wolfe spoke with an officer about concerns for the mental health of an adult female in Jefferson.
  • Jeanne Stutts reported missing items from 621 S. Wilson Ave. The residence is a Genesis Home. An officer could find no evidence of a crime and spoke to Genesis staff members, who advised the resident has memory issues.
  • A local gas station reported locating prescription medications in the restroom. An officer was able to return the drugs to their owner.
  • A traffic stop was performed at W. Wood Street and Grimmell Road, resulting in Ashley Greene Wignall of Jefferson being issued a citation for failure to obey a stop sign.
  • Katelyn Harvey requested a Welfare Check on a female in the 100 block of N. Olive Street. An officer met with the person and coaxed the person to the Greene County Hospital emergency room in order to be evaluated by a medical doctor.
  • A traffic stop was performed in the 1200 block of N. Elm Street, resulting in Ryan Patterson of Jefferson being issued a citation for excessive speed.
  • Bob Hamilton reported two abandoned bikes and a purse on his property near the river on South Grimmell Road. An officer returned the property to its owners.
  • An officer was requested for a bat in the house at 509 N. Vine St. The officer could not locate the bat upon his arrival.

June 5, 2017

  • An officer assisted a deputy with an unruly patient at the Greene County Hospital emergency room.
  • Derrick Ott reported people outside of his residence at 309 N. Oak St. An officer could not locate anyone in the area.
  • An officer was called back to the Greene County Hospital emergency room to assist again with the unruly patient.
  • An officer performed a funeral escort.

  • An officer assisted with a medical call in the 400 block of W. Russell Street.
  • An officer was called to 502 S. Maple St. to speak with two juveniles. They said they felt their grandma poisoned them with food. The officer spoke to the two children and convinced them they were fine at their grandmother’s residence.
  • A local gas station employee spoke to an officer about advising a male in Jefferson that he is no longer welcome in the business due to his erratic behavior. The officer will advise the person he is no longer welcome there.
  • Jeremy Orfield spoke with an officer about being harassed at the Jefferson Municipal Swimming Pool at 710 S. Maple St.
  • An officer assisted with a medical call in the 400 block of S. Cedar Street.
