Perry Police Report June 30

June 29, 2017

  • A caller from the Dallas County Hospital requested that an officer of the Perry Police Department respond to assist a Dallas County Deputy Sheriff with an unsettled patient. An officer responded and assisted “until the situation was calmed.”
  • A caller said “she is trying to move out of her parents’ house, but they are not allowing her to take any of her things.” Officers responded and assisted.
  • A caller said she caught a dog running at large. An officer responded and found the dog’s owner, “who had been looking for her dog that got out of her fenced=in yard.”
  • A caller “reported what appears to be a firework in the alley behind his residence.” The caller “thought it was odd” because “it’s just set up and left,” and there is “no one around.” An officer responded and found a “used/discharged/detonated Roman candle firework.” The  officer disposed of the item.
  • A caller said “she had several items stolen from her home.” An officer responded.
  • A caller said “someone had tried giving him a counterfeit $50 bill.” An officer responded.
  • A caller said his phone was stolen from his vehicle, “and it was caught on video.” An officer responded.
  • A caller was seeking assistance in having a protective order issued. An officer responded.
  • A caller said his residence “was broken into and was a total mess.” The caller said “many things were taken.” An officer responded.
  • A caller said her dog was lost.
  • A caller said “he was getting harassing messages via social media.” An officer responded.
  • A caller said “there were people shooting off fireworks.” An officer responded but “no fireworks were being detonated upon arrival.” The officer made contact with people in the vicinity and “provided copies of the law.”
  • A caller said “she needed an officer to respond.” An officer responded.
  • A caller reported a stolen bicycle. An officer responded.
  • A caller said “she had an elderly female with her who was just walking around by herself.” An officer responded and determined the elderly female was a “patient from a memory-care unit” who “had smashed out the window and gotten outside. Employees arrived and were able to get the patient to return inside to safety without further incident.”
  • A caller said “there were people shooting off fireworks.” An officer responded but was “unable to locate anyone shooting off fireworks.”
  • A caller from the Dallas County Hospital said “they just saw a patient who was bitten by her own dog.” The caller “said that she has since left.” An officer responded.

June 30, 2017

  • A caller reported “about four kids that are messing around in a van.” The caller said “he just saw one of them with a lighter.” An officer responded.
  • A man entered the offices of the Perry Police Department at 908 Willis Ave. and said “he needed to speak with an officer regarding his wife.” The man “said that he thinks he is being evicted.” An officer responded “and advised him about the eviction process.

* A criminal charge is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
