July 31, 2017

  • A caller reported “a possible breakin.” The caller said a juvenile male “knocked on the door” of a neighboring residence and “did not get an answer, so he opened a window and went inside.” An officer responded and made contact with the juvenile. “It was determined his friend lives there, and they do know each other.” The officer informed the caller of the disposition of the matter.
  • A caller said “someone broke into his care and stole his registration.” The caller called again and said the “registration has been found.”
  • A caller “reported a chicken walking around in the area.” An officer responded.
  • A caller said a dog was running at large. An officer responded.
  • A caller from the Iowa Veterinary Referral Center in Des Moines said “a Perry resident” brought in a dog with “severe head trauma.” The caller was “concerned that this is a continuous harm, and the stories of how the dog was injured do not match up with the amount of trauma to the head.” The caller “wanted an officer to follow up later in the day.” An officer responded.
  • Sheila Mae Turned of 2202 Evelyn St., Perry, was issued a citation for no driver’s license and no proof of insurance.
  • A caller said someone was “on his property” who was “not supposed to be there.” The caller was transferred to the Greene County Sheriff’s office.
  • Samantha Monique Henderson, 24, 605 W. Adams St., Jefferson, was arrested on charges of possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.
  • Conar Allen Hornsby, 20, 302 S. Cedar St., Jefferson, was arrested on a charge of possession of marijuana.

August 1, 2017

  • A caller said a dog was running at large. An officer responded.
  • Jonathan Scott Woodley, 25, 1612 W. Second St., Perry, was arrested on charges of possession of marijuana with intent to deliver and failure to affix a drug tax stamp.
  • A caller said she found “a bicycle in the alley behind their home three days ago.” An officer responded.
  • A woman entered the offices of the Perry Police Department at 908 Willis Ave., “wanting to speak with an officer regarding her vehicle.” An officer responded.
  • Maria Diaz of 1601 Fourth St., Perry, was issued a citation for failure to stop in an assured clear distance.
  • A caller said someone was “shooting off fireworks” near his residence. An officer responded.
  • A caller said “when she was taking something outside,” someone in a vehicle “stopped and looked at her and then looked at the boxes and gave her a facial expression that made her feel uneasy.” An officer responded.
  • A caller “reported that there is a small dog tied up with no food, water or shelter.” An officer responded.
  • A caller said her daughter “just punched someone in the face.” The caller said “her brother had taken” something “away, and people were trying to restrain her.” The caller was advised to “get everyone out of the house so everyone can be safe.” Officers responded, and “Mobile Crisis was contacted.”
  • A man entered the offices of the Perry Police Department at 908 Willis Ave. and said “someone had smashed a window to his vehicle and stolen the gas tank out of it.” An officer responded.

August 2, 2017

  • A caller said “he saw a female lying on the ground with a couple of males standing over her.” Officers responded.
  • Kelli Marie Cornelius, 38, 2015 Third St., Perry, was arrested on a charge of driving under suspension.

*A criminal charge is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
