A form teacher and coach was convicted Friday of sexual exploitation stemming from a June incident in which he had “sexual contact with a minor student in the Albia Community School District.”
Zachary Thomas Simpson, 29, plead guilty in Monroe County District Court to a charge of sexual exploitation by a school employee and violation of two no-contact orders.
Monroe County District Court Judge Kirk A. Daily sentenced Simpson to five years in prison. Simpson will also be required to register with the Iowa Sex Offender Registry for 10 years following his incarceration.
The investigation of the crime was led by the Monroe County Sheriff’s office, with assistance from the Iowa Department of Public Safety Division of Criminal Investigation.
