
Perry High School senior Breanna Penenger has been accepted to the 2017 Iowa All-State Chorus as a Soprano I. This is Penenger’s third year to qualify for the All-State Chorus.
A musical standout, Penenger has a track record of accomplishments, including participating in the PHS Concert Choir and Select Choir and serving this fall as the the Drum Major for the PHS Blue Brigade Marching Band.
She also plays the flute and piccolo in the PHS Concert Band and saxophone in the PHS Jazz Band.
Penenger starred as the title character in the 2017 PHS Theater Department’s production of “Peter Pan,” and for that role received an Iowa High School Musical Theatre Association Award for Outstanding Performance in a Leading Role. She was a Triple Threat Nominee and competed at the IHSMTA Showcase in June.
Penenger was selected for the 2017 ISU Honor Choir last February and completed her audition for this year’s choir last week. She has received a Division I rating for Vocal Solos at the IHSMA State Solo and Ensemble Festival for three years running.
She has participated in numerous honor bands and choirs and places high each year with flute and piccolo solos at Perry Band Olympics. She plans to study music education in college.
Penenger is the daughter of Brian and Michelle Penenger of Perry.
