Merrill Williams, 79, of Minburn passed away Sunday, Oct. 29, 2017, at the Bishop Drumm Retirement Center in Johnston, Iowa.
Memorial services will be held Thursday, Nov. 2 at 11 a.m. at the Carris Family Funeral Home in Perry. Merrill’s family asks that you bring a favorite story to the memorial service to share. Visitation will be Wednesday, Nov. 1 from 2-8 p.m., with family present from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be at the High Point Cemetery in High Point, Iowa, at a later date.
Memorials will be given to Courtyard Estates at Cedar Pointe, 6132 N.E. 12th Ave., Pleasant Hill, IA 50327 and may be left at the Carris Family Funeral Home. Online condolences may be sent at www.carrisfuneralhome.com.
Merrill Dale Williams was born Nov. 18, 1937, at Fayette Township in Decatur County, Iowa, to Wilbur Merrill and Thelma Mae (Sly) Williams.
He attended school at Garden Grove High School in Garden Grove, Iowa, and attended Central College in Pella.
He worked at Firestone, Pioneer, was a farmer and did custom baling.
He especially loved his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
He enjoyed horses and driving through the countryside.
In death he rejoins his parents, Wilbur and Thelma Williams; his long-term companion, Ylene Longwell; brother, Gary Richard Williams; and a granddaughter, Ellen Krista Carpenter.
Left to cherish Merrill’s memory are his children, Wendy (Coni) Williams of Houston, Texas, Lori (Allen) Meyer of Johnston, Stephen Williams of Winterset and Andrea (Daniel) Carpenter of Westerville, Ohio; grandchildren, Aaron (Diana) Kintz, John (Tanya) McGoey, Crystal (Mike) Arkovich, Chris (Nikki) Jespersen, Sadie Williams, Jace Steenhoek-Williams, Jhett Williams and Stella Carpenter; great grandchildren, Emily Kintz, Bryan, Paddy and Owen McGoey, Cooper and Austin Arkovich and Tate and Henry Jespersen.
