Gusty northwest winds will continue in the Perry area through the afternoon, according to the latest forecast by the National Weather Service (NWS) office in Des Moines.

Little change in the high winds is anticipated through the daylight hours across much of central Iowa, the NWS said. Winds will remain gusty from the northwest at sustained speeds of 20 to 30 mph, with gusts as high as 35 to 45 mph.

High winds can affect high-profile vehicles and blow loose objects and lawn furniture, the NWS said.

Although the winds will diminish from their peak values, it will also remain quite breezy through beggar’s night and the early evening hours in the Perry area.

Along with Perry, cities affected in Dallas County include Adel, Booneville, Bouton, Dallas Center, Dawson, De Soto, Dexter, Granger, Linden, Minburn, Redfield, Van Meter, Waukee and Woodward.
