The Perry Police Department responded to the report of a baby owl found along 18th Street near North Street Tuesday about 10 p.m.
An officer responded and found the caller had removed the owl from the roadway and laid it in the grass parking. The Humane Society of Perry was notified.
Perry Police Department Officer Wayne Schuttler inspected the small raptor and concluded it was injured or ill. The owl was removed to a wooded area nearby in order to “let nature take its course,” Schuttler said.
There was authority for the officer’s action. Shakespeare’s Hamlet said, “There is special providence in the fall of a sparrow.”
Jesus said to his disciples, “Are not two sparrows sold for a copper coin? And not one of them falls to the ground apart from your Father’s will.”
Finally, Voltaire’s Pangloss said, “All’s for the best in the best of all possible worlds.”
The Humane Society of Perry was notified.
