EARLHAM — The Class 2A eighth-ranked Panorama girls were hardly tested in handing host Earlham their first loss of the season Tuesday, with the Earlham boys claiming victory in the nightcap. Both games were West Central Activities Conference contests.

The Panthers (5-1, 3-0) held a seven-point halftime lead before outscoring the Cardinals (4-1, 2-1) 22-10 in the second half for a 52-33 win while a 42-25 second-half scoring gap lifted Earlham (1-3, 1-2) to a 59-44 triumph over Panorama (1-3, 1-2) in the boys game.

The opener was tied at 11-all after one quarter, but the Panthers were able to slip out to a 30-23 lead at the intermission. A 13-8 third frame widened the gap to 43-31, with the guests waltzing to the win from there.

Bailey Beckmand and Devyn Kemble poured in 20 points apiece for Panorama, with Beckman grabbing five rebounds, making three assists and coming away with five steals while while Kemble had seven boards and five thefts.

Morgan Johnk had 11 points and Hope Wilderman one to cap the Panther scoring, with Johnk providing six caroms and three blocks.

Kelcia Hale paced Earlham with 17 points.

The Panther boys played well in the first half of their game, having rallied from an early five-point hole to post a 19-17 lead at the halftime. However, the Cardinals used a 24-11 third-quarter spurt to open a 41-30 advantage entering the fourth period and slowly pulled away for the 15-point win.

Luke South and Gracen Welberg had nine points apiece for Panorama, with Jacob Merschman and Jacob Iseminger hitting for for seven each. Malachi Peasley scored five points, as did Zac Rizzutti, with Blaine Barber providing two points.
