A Cedar Rapids man was arrested in Guthrie Center Wednesday evening after a foot chase with a Guthrie County Deputy Sheriff that ended with the suspect tasered.
Tony Allen Hoffman, 53, was charged with interference with official acts, escape from custody and possession of drug paraphernalia after fleeing the scene of a routine traffic stop in the 100 block of S. 12th Place in Guthrie Center.
During the course of the traffic stop, the deputy determined Hoffman was wanted by the U.S. Marshall’s Service on an outstanding federal arrest warrant. When Hoffman fled, the deputy deployed the electronic immobilization device.
Hoffman was convicted on a federal charge of counterfeiting in 2013. The U.S. Marshall’s Service has placed a detainer on Hoffman, who will be transferred to their custody.
The Guthrie County Sheriff’s office was assisted by the Panora EMS, the Panora Police Department, the Iowa Department of Natural Resources and the Iowa Department of Transportation Motor Vehicle Enforcement.
