The Dallas County Hospital has announced that Cindy Peeler has been chosen to replace Tonya Summerson as the hospital’s chief clinical officer.

Peeler began her medical career 29 years ago at Mercy Medical Center as a staff nurse. She held a number of other positions over the course of 24 years before taking a position as chief nursing officer in the Adair County Health Systems for five years.

She is an active member of the Iowa Organization for Nurse Leaders and has spoken at national conferences.

“Cindy has already been a great asset to our team here at Dallas County Hospital,” said Dallas County Hospital CEO Angela Mortoza. “Her clinical background paired with her leadership experience are a great addition to our team. We are all excited for her experience to continue to help grow our services and quality.”

Peeler began her new role in November.

“I am very passionate about high quality patient care,” Peller said, “and Dallas County Hospital has recently received high quality patient care scores. I am excited to work with this team to continue to bring that level of patient care to our community.”
