December 20, 2017

  • Scott Thomas Smith of 14405 Alpine Dr., Urbandale, was traveling northbound in the 33000 block of R Avenue when his vehicle struck a deer. No injuries were reported. Damage was estimated at $4,000.
  • Jamie Nathan Larson, 41, of 5012 Emerson Dr., Ames, was arrested on a warrant for violation of probation on an original charge of violation of a protective order.
  • David Michael Cannon, 39, of 505 Main St., Grand Junction, was arrested on warrants for failure to appear on original charges of fourth-degree theft and violation of probation.

December 21, 2017

  • Austin James Hunter of Pleasant Hill was traveling westbound on U.S. Interstate 80 in the fast lane when his vehicle was struck from behind by a semi-tractor trailer driven by Ali H. Ali of Lincoln, Neb. Hunter lost control of his vehicle, which swerved toward the median and  came to rest in the cable barrier. No damage was reported to the carrier barrier. Ali was cited for failure to provide proof of liability. No injuries were reported. Damage to Hunter’s vehicle was estimated at $5,000, and damage to Ali’s vehicle was estimated at $3,500.
  • Angelica Ruth Downs of 210 W. Second St., Woodward, was traveling southeast on Iowa Highway 141 Diagonal when she lost control of her vehicle, which entered the south ditch, struck a road sign and overturned. The driver was checked by the medics but refused transport. Downs was issued a citation for failure to maintain control. Damage to the vehicle was estimated at $7,000.
