Susan Louise Ribas, 66, of Perry passed away Dec. 23, 2017. There will be two memorial services held in honor of her life. The first will take place Friday, Jan. 5 at the Perry Bible Church, 501 12th St. in Perry at 5 p.m.
The second will take place Friday, Jan. 19 at Maribal Mortuary, 2814 N. Broadway Ave. in Los Angeles, Calif., at 6 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to Zion Recovery, 2182 First Ave., Perry, IA 50220 and/or the Perry Alano Club, P.O. Box 1, Perry, IA 50220.
Susie was born Feb. 1, 1952, to Mary Roman and Julius Ribas in Brooklyn, N.Y. Shortly after, she moved to Los Angeles, Calif., where she spent most of her life.
She was the eldest of three, leaving behind a brother and sister, Bruce and Karen.
Susie was a graduate of Abraham Lincoln High School in Los Angeles, Class of 1969.
Susie gave birth to three sons, David, Jose and Richard, who were her pride and joy that everyone knew about. She also left behind two grandchildren, Samuel and Ismael, whom she could not stop spoiling.
Susie enjoyed cooking, traveling with her Aunt Hilda and spending time laughing and talking with many friends. Throughout her life she had many pets whom she loved so dearly, especially her cats Deuce and Kitty.
In 2009 Susie moved to Perry to join her son Richard and his wife, Lorena. Throughout her time in Perry, she worked at Mercy Hospital as a receptionist.
After retirement, Susie became an avid volunteer for numerous public service agencies.
Susie will always be remembered for her selfless character. She took pride in helping others, developing motherly relationships with so many and ensuring that others were taken care of.
She will be extremely missed by so many, including her sons, David, Jose and Richard; daughters-in-law, Kristina, Megan and Lorena; and two grandchildren, Sam and Ismael.
