OGDEN — The new year started much as the old one had ended for sixth-rated Panorama, as the Panthers waltzed to another easy victory in claiming an 81-43 win over host Ogden Tuesday.

The victory moved Panorama to 11-1 overall and 8-0 in WCAC play while Ogden fell to 4-7 and 4-3.

The Panthers held only a 9-6 lead after one quarter, but came alive in the second frame with a 24-12 run to post a 33-18 halftime advantage. Panorama scored 24 points in the third and fourth quarters as well in cruising to the win.

The game saw the long-awaited return of senior Faith Powell, who missed the summer and fall sports seasons while recovering from knee surgery. Powell came off the bench to score 10 points and grab one rebound.

Devyn Kemble led Panorama with 20 points, with Bailey Beckman adding 19 points and Morgan Johnk 11. Anna Holloway, Nicole Rolfes, Shey Storesund and Brooke Halterman had four points apiece, with Ella and Jaelyn Waddle each scoring two points and Kellie Prince one.

The Panthers hit 30-of-55 from the floor and sparkled at the free throw line, draining 16-of-18. The team finished with 19 assists and came away with 20 steals.

Kemble led the defense with eight thefts, with Beckman tallying four assists. While not scoring, Hope Wilderman played her usual important role, clearing six rebounds and providing five assists.

The Panthers are off Friday as the Panorama boys host Woodward Academy. Panorama is at Des Moines Christian Tuesday and West Central Valley Jan. 12.
