Panorama wrestlers dominate CR-B Invitational

COON RAPIDS — Six champions and two runner-up finishers helped the Panorama wrestling team overwhelm the competition at the Crusader Invitational Saturday.

Host Coon Rapids-Bayard/Glidden-Ralston could only watch as Panorama compiled 242.5 team points, easily besting second-place West Central Valley (168) in a 10-team field.

Senior Gunnar Grunsted, ranked fourth in Class 1A at 170 pounds, was an easy winner in his weight class. Grunsted (25-0) scoring two pins and a decision in standing atop the podium.

Trevor Carey (21-4) won 182 with three pins, with Dalton Holmes (18-3) using a pin, a decision and a major decision in winning first place at 195.

A pin, technical fall and major decision allowed Danny Nordquist (21-3) to claim the top spot at 126, with Wyatt Appleseth (20-3) first at 132 with two pins and a decision while a pin, tech fall and decision lifted Noah Kirtley (21-4) to top honors at 138.

Kaleb Stogdill (21-5) was second for the Panthers at 152 after finishing 2-1 with a pin and a decision while heavyweight Dan Jensen (17-6) was second after a 2-1 mark that included wins by pin and by major decision.

Logan Christe (15-10) was 3-1 and placed third at 106, with two pins and decision to his credit. Also placing third was Emry Colby (17-10), who was 3-1 at 145 with two major decisions and a pin.

Placing fifth at 160 with two pins offsetting two losses was Garret Fox (10-7), with Brady Howard (16-11) fifth at 220 after a 2-2 effort that included wins by decision and by medical forfeit. Wyatt Clark (6-20) was winless in three matches at 120, but claimed sixth place in a short-handed division.

Chris Allison (160) and Fynn Bloek (145) were both also in action, but neither was able to record a victory.

Panorama will join Martensdale-St. Marys and Southwest Valley for a quadrangular at East Union Thursday before competing in the Perry Invitational Saturday.
