- An officer was dispatched to a two-vehicle accident at 22nd Street and Iowa Highway 17. The officer did a State report because the damage exceeded the $1,500 limit.
- An officer was notified of an open door at a vacant residence. The officer found nobody inside and determined the wind pushed the door open. Everything checked out okay.
- An officer assisted the State Fire Inspector in attempting to locate someone who moved to Madrid.

- An officer was dispatched to the Madrid Home for a general fire alarm, which was a false alarm.
- An officer assisted Boone County Deputies with a possible intoxicated driver call north of town on Iowa Highway 17.
January 5, 2018
- An officer was called to the 100 block of Jonathan Drive for a missing child who chased his dog after it ran from the house. The juvenile was home safe with his sister upon the officer’s arrival.
- An officer assisted the Madrid Street Department with asking vehicle owners move their vehicles if parked on the roadway. REMINDER: Any vehicles parked on the roadway must be removed after any measurable snowfall so the roadways can be cleared.
- An officer assisted Dallas County Deputies with a call for service on Zook Spur Road by someone who wanted to pick up a dead deer in order to use the carcass for animal feed. The officer assisted the subject with loading the deer and the call for service.
- An officer received a report of a young male crying in the alley by the bus garage. The officer made contact with the 9-year-old and found he was cold from having zipper issues on his coat. The officer gave the child a ride home to E. North Street.
January 6, 2018
- An officer was called to a retail store regarding a stolen vehicle report. It was determined the vehicle was parked in the lot next to a similar vehicle, and both were left running. The vehicle taken was driven away mistakenly by the driver of the other vehicle and returned to the owner a short time after.
- An officer performed a welfare check in the 500 block of W. Sixth Street. Subject checked out okay.
- An officer responded to a report of juveniles causing a disturbance in the 500 block of E. Second Street. The officer spoke with the children and told them to keep it down.
January 7, 2018
- An officer performed a welfare check and stood by while someone moved out of a residence in the 500 block of E. Sixth Street.
- An officer unlocked a vehicle for a resident in the 600 block of Washington Street.
