URBANDALE — The task the second time around proved more difficult than in their first meeting of the season, but in the end Panorama was able to record a WCAC win over Des Moines Christian in girls cage action Tuesday.
Panorama had blasted DMC, 58-20, in Panora Nov. 29, but had to overcome a determined Lions squad to record a 50-41 victory to complete a season sweep.
Prolific scorer Devyn Kemble had a rare off-night in the Panther scoring book, accounting for just two points on 1-of-9 shooting, but the senior grabbed 10 rebounds and had more than enough support from teammates to secure the win.
Bailey Beckman had 18 points, five rebounds and five steals for Panorama (12-1, 9-0), with Morgan Johnk adding 14 points, eight boards and three blocks.
Hope Wilderman, Nicole Rolfes and Brooke Halterman scored four points apiece, with Kellie Prince and Faith Powell joining Kemble in scoring two points each. Wilderman had four rebounds and three assists, with Price also making three assists.
Panorama hit just 17-of-49 from the floor while DMC (10-3, 7-2) sank 17-of-40, but the Lions were only 5-of-9 at the foul line while the Panthers drained 14-of-15 at the stripe.
The visitors led, 14-9, after one quarter and 30-15 at the half, with the third quarter ending in a 38-26 edge for the Panthers.
Emma Veenstra had 11 points and seven boards for DMC, with Moriah Prewitt, Ava Van Soelen and Olivia Penland adding seven points apiece while Kallie Lawson provided six points and Aspen Brockhouse three.
