February’s meeting of the Growing Food and Profit group will feature Ajay Nair, assistant professor of horticulture at Iowa State University, who will discuss intercropping vegetable growing systems.

Vegetable intercropping strategies can be implemented to discourage insect pests and positively impact the production of crops. Visitors will learn why these systems work and how they can be implemented.

Whether you are a food grower, someone interested in growing foods or merely an “eater” of locally grown foods, all are welcome to attend.

The Growing Food and Profit meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, Feb. 6 at the First Presbyterian Church in Dallas Center, 1204 13th St. The evening will begin with a potluck meal at 6:30 p.m. Attendees should bring a potluck dish to share as well as table service. Coffee and water will be provided.

The Growing Food for Profit group is sponsored by ISU Extension and Outreach Dallas County. For more information, contact Linda Nelson at 515-491-3984 or Lsnelson1@hotmail.com.
