W-G makes early lead stand up in win at Ogden

OGDEN — Visiting Woodward-Granger seized an 18-11 lead after one quarter of WCAC boys basketball Tuesday and managed to keep their advantage throughout to eventually post a 71-60 victory.

Both teams fired away from beyond the 3-point arc, with W-G landing eight treys and Ogden seven. The guests were 11-of-17 at the foul line in the win, with the hosts sinking 9-of-16 from the stripe.

W-G (9-7, 7-7) maintained their seven-point edge with a 37-30 advantage at the half, then added two points to their margin by entering the final eight minutes holding a 49-40 lead.

Ogden (7-9, 5-9) received a game-high 29 points from Ben Heeren, with eight points from Noah Snedden and seven from Charlie Lake helping lead the way.

Bryce Achenbach and Reese Jamison each connected on three 3-pointers for W-G, with the former finishing with 21 points and the latter with 13. Kaya Bowlsby and Keith Braunschweig had 10 points apiece in the win, with J.P. Nixon adding seven points and Alex Bice and Noah Hoyt five points apiece.

W-G entertains Madrid Friday, visits Panorama Tuesday and then returns home to face Earlham Feb. 2 in their upcoming contests.
