MADRID — An 18-6 fourth quarter enabled Madrid to escape upset-minded Panorama in WCAC boys action Tuesday. The win lifts Madrid to 12-5 overall and 10-4 in league play while Panorama falls to 5-12 and 3-11.

The hosts held leads of 16-12 and of 31-28 after each of the first two quarters, respectively, but the visitors used a late run to grab a 43-42 advantage entering the fourth frame.

The Tigers slipped out to a 52-49 lead with three minutes remaining, and while the Panthers were well within striking distance they could not find a way of putting the ball in the basket in the final 180 seconds, allowing the home team to pull away for the win.

Madrid was 15-of-23 and Panorama 11-of-19 from the foul line in the game, with the Tigers making seven 3-pointers while the Panthers connected on just two shots behind the arc.

Devin Fuson had 17 points for the Tigers, with Tate Loebeck (four 3-pointers) and Braden Gibbons each adding 14 points. Landen Burke added five points and Mason Loebeck four, with Logan Wicker and Landen Klatt scoring three points apiece.

Zach Rizzuti scored 14 points to pace the Panthers, with Gracen Welberg adding 10 points and Jacob Merschman nine. Malachi Peasley had seven points and Luke South five, with two points from both Jack Weinkoetz and Michael Allen rounding out the scoring.

Panorama visits Van Meter Friday before hosting Woodward-Granger Tuesday and Ogden Feb. 2 for their next three contests.
