Luther’s Marburger named IIAC Player of Week for second time

DECORAH — Luther forward Claire Marburger recently earned her second recognition of the season as the Iowa Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Player of the Week.

Marburger secured the honor the leading the Norse to wins of 76-55 over Simpson and of 83-75 over Coe, snapping an eight-game winning streak for the Coehawks in the process.

The former Perry All-Stater poured in 26 points against Coe. She hit 9-of-14 shots from the floor and 7-of-8 at the foul line in the win while blocking four shots.

She had 14 points and 11 rebounds in the win over Simpson, hitting 5-of-11 field goals and 4-of-5 from the stripe while blocking a shot. Marburger had three steals and three asssists in the two victories.
