GUTHRIE CENTER — The Woodward-Granger girls won their only West Central Activities Conference game of the season Tuesday with a 37-29 win over host AC/GC.

The Hawks (4-18, 1-15) rebounded from a 7-3 deficit at the end of the first quarter to move into an 18-10 lead at the intermission. AC/GC (2-19, 2-14) scored just six points in the third quarter as their disadvantage swelled to 32-16, with W-G holding off a late charge to claim the victory.

AC/GC struggled mightily from the floor, hitting only 9-of-49 field goals, a clip that included 4-of-20 shooting beyond the 3-point arc. The hosts were 7-of-16 at the foul line, where W-G finished with a considerable edge, making good on 18-of-34 attempts from the stripe.

Jadeyn Carrick had nine points for the hosts, with Lauryn Embleton scoring five points and Savana Fuller four points. Mady Smith, Sierra O’Brien and Genevieve Hoover had three points apiece and Kylie Young two.

Carrick had nine rebounds, Fuller seven, and Hoover six, with Embleton and O’Brien both making three steals.

Kaitlyn Peters led all scorers with 10 points for W-G, with Natalie Helbling adding nine points and Katelyn Scharlau eight. Alyssa Bice tallied four points, with three points apiece coming from Mae Anderson and Kayley Dresback.

W-G visits Ogden Saturday in a Class 2A Region 6 first round contest. The winner will play host Earlham Tuesday in a Region 6 Quarterfinal. All games began at 7 p.m.
