Perry senior Connor Nielsen fires a shot against Bondurant-Farrar Friday as teammates Brendan Ivory (24) and Aaron Lockwood (44) watch the flight of the ball.

A back-and-forth contest was settled in the final three minutes, as Bondurant-Farrar pulled away from a 42-42 tie to record a 54-52 Raccoon River Conference victory over Perry Friday.

The Perry boys used a strong third quarter to flip a 28-24 halftime deficit into a 37-36 edge entering the fourth frame, with an 8-2 Bluejay run capping the period.

Neither team could pull away from the other for most of the final frame, with the score knotted at 40-all, 41-all, 42-all before a Mason Storey 3-pointer and Seth Moeller driving basket opened a 47-42 lead for the guests.

B-F had a 51-46 lead with 70 seconds to play and made the lead stand up, with Perry scoring a final basket at the horn to create the final 54-52 result.

Perry’s Connor Nielsen (34) sets a screen from Drew Levan (4) as Aaron Lockwood (44) moves in the rotation during Friday’s Raccoon River Conference tilt with Bondurant-Farrar.

Perry (5-16, 3-11) was only 5-of-9 at the foul line, with B-F (10-10, 5-9) sinking only 5-of-10 in the second half but finishing 14-of-21 thanks to a 9-of-11 effort in the first half from the stripe.

The hosts were playing without seniors Mark Campos and point guard Rashon Ivory, both the result of actions during Tuesday’s loss at Boone.

Both were among the total of 11 Bluejays seniors honored before the contest. Devon Booth, Tanner Duffy, Reece Dunlap, Jacob Huffman, Drew Levan, Aaron Lockwood, Michael Meyer, Connor Nielsen, and Luke Rathje.

Levan led Perry with 20 points, with Nielsen adding 12. Duffy had nine points, Brendan Ivory five, Meyer four and Lockwood two.

B-F was paced by 17 points from Moeller, 11 from John Carlson and 10 from Jordan Collins.

Perry will host Creston Thursday in a freshman/junior varsity/varsity set to conclude their regular season.

Perry will play at 8 p.m. Feb. 19 against host Harlan (13-5), with Carroll (13-5) facing Creston (8-10) in the 6:30 p.m. game. Winners will meet, in Harlan, at 7 p.m. Feb. 22, with the 3A Substate 8 Final Feb. 26. Glenwood faces ADM and Atlantic battles Denison-Schleswig on the opposite side of the bracket.
