OGDEN — A 12-7 edge in fourth-quarter scoring lifted Ogden to a 43-37 win over visiting Woodward-Granger in their Class 2A Region 6 first round game Saturday.

Ogden (8-14) advances to play host Earlham tonight, with the winner to visit Des Moines Christian Friday and battle the winner of DMC and NW Webster. The R6 Final is slated for Monday in Woodward. All games start at 7 p.m.

W-G (4-19) held narrow leads of 14-12 and of 21-19 after each of the first two periods, but entered the final quarter trailing, 31-30.

Ogden held a 35-32 lead with two minutes to play and led, 39-34, with 60 seconds remaining before pulling out the win.

The Bulldogs were 42-33 and 44-36 winners (the later in Ogden) against the Hawks during the regular season.

A sizable discrepancy at the foul line greatly aided the hosts in claiming the victory. Just 1-of-10 on 3-point shots, the Bulldogs finished 16-of-23 at the stripe while the Hawks attempted just five free throws, making three.

Ashton Boggess had 19 points and Gabby Ross 10 for the hosts, with Abby Langel scoring six points and Meredith Adreon and Allea Klauenberg four apiece.

Senior Alyssa Bice and Kaitlyn Peters played their final prep contests for W-G in the loss. Bice landed two treys in scoring a team-high 18 points, with Peters adding two points.

Kayley Dresback sank two 3-pointers while scoring 10 points for the Hawks, with Katelyn Scharlau providing five points and Mae Anderson two.
