  • Hy Vee reported a vehicle in their parking lot at 106 W. Washington St. that was running for a period of time with no one around it. An officer attempted to contact the registered owner but was unable to do so. The officer secured the vehicle after shutting it off. The keys were brought to the Law Enforcement Center. At about 4 a.m. George Byerly reported his vehicle missing from 202 W. Adams St. He was purchasing the vehicle from the registered owner whom the officer was attempting to contact. The officer released the vehicle to Byerly. The officer will be working with Hy Vee to view video to continue the investigation.
  • Bunker’s Dunkers reported a bike in the alley for several days at 119 N. Chestnut St.
  • Sara West reported footprints in the snow all around the property at 504 N. Cedar St. Nothing was missing from the area. An officer is investigating.
  • An officer responded to an alarm activation at 401 S. Wilson Ave. All doors and windows were secure at the property.
  • Desi Johns reported a lost/stolen purse to an officer at the Law Enforcement Center. Johns called back a few minutes later and said the purse had been located.
  • A caller reported a vehicle in the ditch on 220th Street near the casino entrance. An officer responded, but the vehicle was gone.
  • Russell Scott reported a Secret Shopper scam he was involved in. He was sent a check and instructed to deposit the check and keep a small amount for himself. He was to send the rest to two others by Wal-Mart transfer cards, which he did. Scott was advised a few days later by his bank the check did not clear and was a fraud.
  • An officer responded to 777 Wild Rose Lane to check on a 911 hang-up call from the location. The officer learned that the call was an employee error.
  • An officer assisted a motorist with vehicle trouble at 308 W. McKinley St.
  • A traffic stop at Lincoln Way and Elm Street resulted in Kurt Schoon of Scranton being issued a citation for failure to obey a stop sign.

*A criminal charge is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
