

The Perry Police Department arrested a Perry man Friday morning in connection with the vandalism occurring Feb. 24 at the Perry Sinclair station in downtown Perry.
William W. Lawrence, 46, of Perry was charged with fifth-degree criminal mischief for damages to a gas pump at 1223 Willis Ave.
According to a statement from the Perry Police Department, Lawrence was identified with the help of video from the Sinclair station’s owner and from staff of the nearby Fareway Store.
“Special thanks to the people at Fareway for helping us track down and identify this suspect today,” the police department statement said. “Information from citizens is one of the most useful tools in combating criminal activity and identifying suspects.”
Under the Iowa Code, fifth-degree criminal mischief is simple misdemeanor, punishable by up to 30 days in jail, a fine of $65 to $625 or both.
