March 19, 2018

  • A caller said “they have a problem with people dumping their trash in their dumpster.” An officer responded, determined the source of the illegal trash and made contact with the owner of the trash. The officer “advised her not to dump trash in other businesses” and “suggested she but stickers to be able to put out more bags.” The officer also “told her to get rid of the mattress that appears to have been left out for a while.”
  • A caller said a dog was running at large. An officer responded and “located the dog owner and was able to reunite them”
  • An officer of the Perry Police Department taught DARE classes at the Perry Elementary School.
  • A caller said “she found drug paraphernalia.” An officer responded and took possession of “a broken glass pipe,” which “was then logged into evidence.”
  • A caller said a dog was running at large. An officer responded, determined the residence of the dog and the “dog was placed back in the back fenced-in yard.”
  • A caller reported “a suspicious person walking back and forth on the sidewalk” who also “sat down on the sidewalk” and “then got up.” An officer responded and determined the walker “was waiting for his friends,” who arrived shortly thereafter.
  • A caller reported “a grass fire in the Rippey area.” The caller was transferred to the Greene County Sheriff’s office.
  • A caller “requested to talk to an officer regarding the eviction process.” The caller “said his landlord served him with a two-day notice.” An officer responded.
  • A caller said he “caught a man, riding a blue bike and pulling a trailer, behind the store” with “bundles of pine shavings, which are stored in front of the store in the trailer.”  The caller said the bicyclist “denied taking the items from in front of the store.” The caller said “the man was picking up some old lumber,” and the caller “said he could have the lumber but not to come back on” the property. An officer responded.
  • A caller said “he hasn’t been able to make contact with his girlfriend” and requested that an officer of the Perry Police Department do a welfare check. An officer responded, made contact with the girlfriend and “she was sine.”
  • A called asked whether his wife was “arrested today” and “was told there were no arrests today.” The caller said his wife “was not home when he came back from work.” The caller was advised to inquire at the Dallas County Hospital and “file a missing-person’s report at the police department.” The caller said “he would come to the station if his wife still hadn’t shown up in the morning.”
  • A caller reported “a cow near the road two miles south” of Perry on County Road P58. The Dallas County Sheriff’s office was notified.
  • A caller said her neighbors “were listening to loud music, being loud and were drinking.” An officer responded and found “no loud music playing.” The officer made contact with the neighbors and asked them “to keep the noise level down.”

March 20, 2018

  • An officer of the Perry Police Department taught DARE classes at the Perry Elementary School.
  • A mentally disturbed caller “said three men are being held hostage in an executive-style building in the area of Rock Island on the side of the river. When asked by whom, the caller hung up.” An officer was advised.
  •  A caller reported “loud music coming from the apartment under her.” The caller said the music was “so loud it is causing loud vibrations.” An officer responded, made contact with the neighbors and advised them of the complaint, and their “TV was turned down.”
  • A caller “wanted to speak to an officer regarding a check she received for $2,000 as she sells Mary Kay on Craigslist.” An officer responded and “advised it was a scam.”
  • A caller said she “would like a welfare check on her daughter” because “when she called, there was lots of yelling and things going on in the background.” An officer responded and made contact with a man who said “his girlfriend’s ex was refusing to come get his 6-year-old daughter for his days, according to the custody agreement.” The man said “there was a verbal argument over the phone.” The officer directed the parties “to speak to the courts concerning the custody agreement.”

March 21, 2018

  • A caller said she “was concerned about something her son found while walking on a trail west of” Willis Avenue, “a plaque with some strange information.” The caller said she “wanted to let somebody know what they found.” An officer responded and “spoke to the caller about her concerns.”
  • A caller said a boy “is there, saying he was assaulted by” another boy “a few minutes ago at the park. He has a few scrapes.” An officer responded and spoke with the victim.
  • A man entered the offices of the Perry Police Department at 908 Willis Ave. and said he lost his Social Security card. The man said he “would like to be called if someone brings it in.”
  • A man entered the offices of the Perry Police Department at 908 Willis Ave. and said “he believes he has been scammed.” An officer responded.
  • A caller said “her son’s phone has come up missing, and GPS shows it at a neighboring apartment.” She said her “son had left his phone and headset in the community room unattended. When it was realized and the went back to the room, the item was gone. The mother used an app to locate the phone in another building on the property.” The caller said she “knocked on the door and spoke with an elderly female,” who said “her son was visiting from Ohio, but he was in Des Moines. The mother located the missing items in her son’s lunchbox.” The caller said “she does not want to confront them and wants officers to assist.” An officer responded.

March 22, 2018

  • Linda Ann Ridge, 46, 32172 610th Ave., Cambridge, Iowa, was arrested on a charge of third-degree theft.

*A criminal charge is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
